Candida Albicans: New Natural Remedy To Help Beat Candida Revealed
Date: 01/02/03
Candida albicans is a single-celled yeast-like organism that resides in your gastro-intestinal tract. Normally it does no harm, its growth kept in check by the 'friendly' intestinal bacteria that are essential to your body's healthy functioning - you may remember reading about the benefits associated with these 'friendly' bacteria in the report we brought you in last month's HSI.
However, if this fine balance is disturbed, an overgrowth of candida albicans can result, and the toxins produced by the yeast can cause numerous, unpleasant symptoms. These include abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhoea, gas, bloating, indigestion, heartburn, recurrent vaginal yeast infections, bad breath, skin rashes, allergies, chemical sensitivities, muscle aches, cold hands and feet, fatigue, depression, irritability, difficulty concentrating and immune system malfunction.
The main causes of candida albicans overgrowth are repetitive antibiotic use, corticosteroids (used for the treatment of inflammatory conditions such as arthritis), oral contraceptives, chemotherapy and radiation exposure. Certain lifestyle factors can also aggravate the condition, including prolonged stress and a diet high in refined carbohydrates and sugar.
Conventional forms of treatment include strong anti-fungal drugs such as Nystatin. Besides having the potential to damage your liver, candida albicans can soon become resistant to these drugs and render them useless. In addition, when a large number of candida albicans cells are killed off by anti-fungals, toxic material is suddenly released, which intensifies symptoms and results in what is known as a 'die off' reaction. This manifests itself in flu-like symptoms, skin rashes and/or mental confusion, which can last up to seven days.
Fortunately, a new and natural tool against candida albicans overgrowth has emerged called Candex - not only can it successfully help beat candida but it has the added benefit of not causing the unpleasant 'die off' reaction.
Candex prevents an onslaught of toxins from invading your system
Candex contains a combination of enzymes, including cellulase, that are able to influence individual yeast cells. The cell wall of candida albicans is mainly made up of cellulose (a complex carbohydrate or polysaccharide); cellulase is able to digest cellulose and break it down. When this occurs, the yeast cell dies without releasing a flood of toxins - thereby preventing a 'die off' reaction.
Candex also contains five other enzymes that digest both complex and simple carbohydrates, which are candida albicans' preferred foods. So Candex not only digests the yeast cells, it also starves them and prevents them from multiplying and causing any more damage to your overall health.
In one study, 52 patients who were diagnosed with candida were given Candex for approximately three months 1.
They were also given a probiotic supplement (to boost the population of friendly bacteria) and were placed on a low-carbohydrate diet. All patients experienced a marked improvement in both upper and lower gastro-intestinal symptoms, like abdominal pain and bloating, as well as noticing improvements in other symptoms such as skin rashes and allergies.
'I definitely feel better and have had no die-off effect or negative reaction'
Dr Craig Butler of the Progressive Medical Group, in Atlanta, Georgia, who monitored the study, says that many more patients have now benefited from the new supplement. 'We have placed numerous patients on Candex with the same results,' he says. It was concluded that Candex is an extremely effective natural alternative for anti-fungal therapy, which is well tolerated and does not cause any adverse side effects.
A similar study is now being undertaken by the National Candida Society here in Britain, and HSI promises to keep you fully updated about the findings as soon as they become available.
Some people in Britain have already tried Candex and report it to be both safe and effective. Mrs Wolstenholme from Cheshire told us: 'I definitely feel better and have had no die-off effect or negative reaction, which makes a change as I am notoriously sensitive to most products.'
What to take for best results
The recommended dose for Candex is two capsules in the morning an hour before breakfast and two capsules in the evening at least two hours after eating. An improvement should be seen within seven to 30 days although for maximum benefit the product should be taken for several months. This is particularly important in those with a long-term candida problem. Once improvements are experienced, the dose can be gradually reduced over a period of several weeks until one capsule a day is reached.
It is advisable to take a strong probiotic supplement in conjunction with Candex. Based on clinical experience, certain foods have been found to promote the overgrowth of Candida albicans and are best avoided in those suffering from candida albicans. These include sugar and refined foods (which the yeast cells thrive on), dairy products, foods with a high yeast or mould content (such as cheese, mushrooms, dried fruits and peanuts), fermented products (for example alcoholic beverages and vinegar) and foods to which you may be allergic or intolerant to.
