Give yourself a herbal boost in the bedroom

Date: 13/04/06

Keywords: Herbs,
I feel I should whisper this.

I feel I should whisper this... but sometimes, we all might need a little help to give things a boost in the bedroom. In fact these days, it has become more necessary than ever.

The pace and stress of modern day life puts an inordinate amount of pressure on couples, and this can have an adverse affect on our bodies, particularly in men.

Female hormones can effect mens libido

But theres another hidden factor that could be affecting hundreds of men without them even realising it... oestrogen mimickers. And these seem to be infiltrating the very fabric of a mans life.

Oestrogen mimickers have the undesired effect of boosting oestrogen (a female hormone) in mens bodies, and having an anti-androgen effect. Androgen is a term used to describe any male sex hormone.

And the problem is, they are everywhere. They can be inhaled from petrol fumes and inks in fax machines. They are found in dyes, glues and cleaning products. Due to so many women taking the contraceptive pill and HRT, oestrogen has also found its way into our recycled drinking water. Pesticides and herbicides also act as oestrogen mimickers. It seems that there is no escaping these potentially harmful chemicals.

In additional to oestrogen mimickers, other factors play a role including a sedentary lifestyle and ageing, which further undermines the male body.

Three natural remedies could help restore your manhood

But dont give up just yet. These three alternatives may help.

Asian ginseng root (Panax ginseng) has long been used to improve libido and the ability to maintain an erection. In double-blind clinical trials, sixty per cent of men with erectile dysfunction experienced improvements after taking a ginseng extract for just eight to twelve weeks. Take 500mg of standardised extract daily.

Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba) can also help to combat impotence, by increasing blood flow to your penis. A dose of 120mg a day of standardised extract is recommended.

Another traditional herb that has proved itself in clinical trials is muira puama (Liriosma ovata), also known as Brazilian potency wood. In a study of 262 patients with erection problems, a daily dose of 1 to 1.5 grams of muira puama extract for just two weeks increased libido in 62 percent of men and improved erections for 51 per cent of men. Take 500mg one to three times a day.

Sex can be a diminishing aspect in peoples lives, due to demanding lifestyles, stress, age and large amounts of hormonally disruptive chemicals. Ginseng, ginkgo and muira puama may not be able to address all the problems we are currently facing, but they can certainly help you fight back.
