I am aged 51 and have been diagnosed with genetic heart disease. I had 5 blockages treated by angioplasty and stents in 2001 and got my weight down from 18 stone to 12 stone. I was put on simovastatin and dispersible aspirin plus given a nitro spray to carry round.
I have never used the spray(touch wood) yet but lately I have put on weight again(now 15 stone and 6 feet tall) and just starting to get angina symptoms again.
I have started looking at weight loss and diet and fitness again but I am frightened I have let things go too far and that I will have a heart attack or need open heart surgery which I am terrified of(even though I know it saves and improves lives).
I am spending a fortune on supplements/things like serrapeptase, COQ10, Blockbuster All Clear(from the suppliers of serrapeptase), horse chestnut, pycnogenol, niacin, magnesium, folic acid, etc etc etc etc and getting in debt as I only get £392 a month incapacity benefits.
I am beginning to give up hope and becoming depressed and suicidal. I want to keep positive for my wife and son and daughter and my 4 year old grandson but I am finding the fear of heart attack and/or open heart surgery beginning to rule my life and debilitating my days with fear.
Can anyone out there give me any help, personal support or just honest, open and genuine relevant and proven advice/recommendations for my situation to improve.
Thank you for listening

Dear Cuchillo I organised a heart disease conference a few years ago in London and one of the key note speakers was a doctor from the Arterial Disease Clinic. He talked about chelation therapy (which I believe may be available on the NHS through referral from your own doctor) which had been achieving remarkable results (some patients who'd undergone chelation therapy were also there and talked very positively about it). If you've tried everything else (it seems that you're also doing lots of the right things) then perhaps contact The Arterial Disease Clinic and see what they can do for you. They have an office in Manchester and London http://www.chelationuk.co.uk/contact.html The Administrator

Dear Administrator,
Thanks for taking the time to let me know about this possible option, although I fear it not available automatically on the NHS; depends on postcodes and GP's etc; I think I tried back in 2006 and my NHS area PCT said no chance. But maybe I can try again and take it further this time in relation to Patient Choice etc.
Thank you for your kind and thoughtful message
Cheers
Cuchillo
