It is ridiculous to think that fluorides are as poisonous & undesirable as , say, arsenic or lead. Fluorides are essential chemicals for the formation of many body parts, most especially teeth. My sisters & I were born in the 1930's in south-east London, when & where our water & diets were highly deficient in fluoride. Our Parents came from the same area, & my partner. ALL of us have diabolically rotten teeth, despite a lifetime of thorough cleaning & dental care. We gave our Daughter small fluoride tablets of the correct content for some time, & then she used infant's & child's fluoride toothpaste thereafter, until mature. She now has strong PERFECT teeth, including all Wisdom teeth. Not having 1ppm fluoride in the water, as there is naturally in many parts of the World, (with no ill effects on the residents) is all very well in a perfect society, but for the poorer people, it is disastrous for their teeth. Apart from a poorer diet, they are far less likely to clean their teeth. As we now have to largely pay for dental care, such people are unlikely to visit a dentist. All substances which we consume must be in reasonable balance, including fluoride. Some years ago, a local man died of drinking too much carrot juice, & a local boy died of drinking too much WATER. It isn't a ban on fluoride we need, it's a proper regulation of how much we consume of this essential substance.

You really need to do some research. http://www.nofluoride.com/ for example. Just because your children have not dropped dead does not mean anything except you MAY not be doing right by your children.. Bob

The World Health Organisation do not have a maximum safe limit for the consumption of Fluoride. In their opinion no amount of fluoride in drinking water is safe. 12 years ago when the debate about the fluoridation of water started I was so concerned that we moved to a new house with a private supply. There is no chemical treatment of our drinking water and I will be happy if there never is. There are 2 issues here 1. Enforced medication of the population as a whole, whether they need / want it or not. On principle I am against this, in the past we have been told by the 'experts' that both smoking and radiation are good for us and that there is no risk to humans from 'mad cow disease'. I will go with my intuition and it very definitely says no. 2. In response to Earnie, there is a big difference between the fluoride tablets which are in regulated doses and a particular type of fluoride, and mass medication of the general population with unregulated doses of harmful fluorides.
