My ankles swell badly every day. I am overweight, but I see loads of overweight ladies with trim ankles, so I don't believe it is a weight issue. I remember taking something some time ago and my ankles went down, but I cannot remember what it was!!! I don't want diuretics or drugs really, as I am a vitamin lover or natural health person..........anyone got any ideas what would work????

Hi Violet,
I have the same problem. My ankles started swelling about 2 years ago, firstly in the summer time on and off in the warmer weather then went down and stayed normal. Then they would have puffed up a day or 2 before my period and then been ok. Then at the end of January beginning of February this year, they swelled up, the tops of feet as well, and have never gone down. It is so ugly looking (I think).
I don't take salt on my food. I do need to drink more water and I do need to exercise (although I don't see what the 2.5 litres of water would do). My job means that I sit at my desk ALL day, so fluid does flow to my feet, although it did not use to.
I too really want a cure. I was always very proud of my slim ankles even though I was overweight (and still am).
My doctor doesn't know what is causing this oedema. Anybody out there know anything?

It may be worth having your thyroid checked!
