When my mother was diagnosed with emphysema and COPD in 2003 she was prescribed a myriad of drugs. She had albuterol sulfate that was to be used in the nebulizer twice a day eventually evolving to 4 times a day as her condition worsened. She was also prescribed Advair, Spiriva and Combivent as a rescure inhaler. She was also prescribed antibiotics and prednisone on a regular basis, three or four times a year.

COPD Medications Only Mask Symptoms
I noticed over the two and a half years that she took these drugs and did not smoke, her condition worsened to the point that her medical record read "End Stage Emphysema" byJanuary 24, 2006. She had done everything that she was supposed to do including not smoking and attending pulmonary rehab twice a week.

By this time she was on 4 liters of continuous supplemental oxygen and weighed only 77 pounds. She could only sleep for an hour or so before waking in the middle of an exacerbation. Her meal size had shrunk down to a tiny amount of food at each meal, about what you would feed a 2 or 3 year old. Her doctors were spreading out her appointments so that she was scheduled every 4 or 5 months instead of every other month or every 3 months.


I finally realized that the doctors were calmly watching her die while the pharmaceutical industry made a killing on drugs that did not produce any lasting improvements in my mother's health, they only masked symptoms. I was staying up all night checking on my mother every 10 or 15 minutes which provided lots of time for researching alternatives to these drugs that were not doing anything.

Cure for Sinus Headaches From Mayo Clinic That the Doctors Have Not Read
My mother was getting severe headaches a few times a week presumably from the tube which fed the oxygen to her from the oxygen concentrator. I found that the problem was called "sinusitis" and Dr. Hirohito Kita, M.D. of Mayo Clinic had published research in 1999 stating that 96% of sinusitis was caused by a fungal infection.

I had tried everything to help relieve these severe headaches for my mother. I tried Tylenol, Advil and aspirin at different times and not one of them provided even a tiny bit of relief. Her doctor prescribed antibiotics thinking they would help. He assumed that sinusitis was caused by a bacterial infection not a fungal infection as Dr. Kita had already determined. I found out that neither one of her doctors had heard of Dr. Kita or read his research but they were willing to prescribe a medication to treat something they obviously knew nothing about.

The antibiotics did not work either, as you might have already suspected. I found that olive leaf extract was supposed to kill fungal infections so I made a trip to the local health foods store and bought some olive leaf extract nasal spray. In less than 10 minutes after using the nasal spray my mother's headaches were gone.

I began soaking the spare air tube that she breathed through in apple cider vinegar and switching the tubes every week. Her headaches were less frequent and eventually went away completely. I found in researching that antibiotics would actually "ensure the chronicity" of a fungal infection. In other words, the prescription my mother's doctor gave her actually made her condition worse.

Additional Research Provides Natural Cure for COPD
After that ordeal I was inspired to continue researching alternatives to these medications that did not do anything except mask symptoms. I found cancer research at the University of Nevada School of Medicine directed by Dr. Fred Hunter that put patients on a diet void of all sugar and sugary foods. They stated that cancer cells had 90+ receptor sites for sugar. They also used beta-1,3/1,6-glucan to amplify the patients' immune responses and proteolytic enzymes that would tear away the protective, protein covering of the cancer cells.

I also found Dr. Pescatore, M.D. in New York City that used the same diet in his 8-step cure for asthma and allergies. He included a number of supplements as part of his 8-step cure but no medications. I immediately began incorporating this diet and the supplements these doctors were using into my mother's daily regimen. Along with additional research that eventually totalled more than 6500 hours, I found other supplements that would permanently improve my mother's condition instead of providing the pharmaceutical mask of symptoms.

By December of 2008 my mother had re-gained all of her lost weight and did not require any supplemental oxygen. She was able to eat normal amounts of food and sleep the entire night without waking. She no longer experienced any exacerbations and did not show any remnants of ever having emphysema.

The doctors, in their arrogance, claimed that it was their medications that had caused this complete recovery from emphysema not realizing the medications they had prescribed had one-by-one stopped working and my mother had refused to use them when they stopped providing the temporary relief.
