Do you find yourself struggling to get up when youve been sitting down on the sofa too long? Or perhaps youre finding it increasingly difficult to get out of bed in the mornings because your joints feel so stiff and sore? If so, you shouldnt shrug your symptoms off as an inevitable consequence of ageing and something you simply have to live with especially following the recent launch of a herbal remedy called Runo that can offer much-needed relief from joint pain.

Over nine million people in the UK suffer from the debilitating joint pain caused by arthritis, and in Britain alone rheumatic complaints are the commonest cause of visits to the doctor. Arthritis is any painful condition that affects the joints and there are about 200 different forms of the disease the most common being osteoarthritis, which affects between 3 and 6 per cent of the population. However, the exact figure is uncertain, because many people put down the joint pain and stiffness to just getting old, rather than having a diagnosis of osteoarthritis put into their medical records.

Osteoarthritis is caused by thinning of the cartilage lining the joints. Cartilage is natures shock absorber, which stops bones rubbing together. Throughout life it is always being broken down by your body and replaced. Unfortunately after the age of about 25 the breakdown happens faster than the build up, and so cartilage tends to thin with the passing of the years. This brings your bones closer together, to the stage where they are close enough to cause pain, and the closer rubbing of the bones can cause inflammation. It can also be caused by damage to the joints following an injury.

Rheumatism is a broader term than arthritis it not only involves conditions like arthritis that affect the joints, but also those that affect the muscles and ligaments associated with the joints. The two most common forms of rheumatism are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Runo has been specially formulated to alleviate the pain and discomfort caused by rheumatism, arthritis and other musculoskeletal disorders. Better still, this remedy wont be affected by restrictive new EU regulations that are coming into effect soon to govern herbal preparations, as it has already gained official approval as a safe, licensed herbal medicine.

Runo: Conventional drugs can make your condition worse in the long-run!

Conventional medicine has very little to offer arthritis sufferers other than temporary pain relief through drugs like aspirin and paracetamol. If these fail to work, codeine or Non-Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) are usually prescribed.

However, as discussed in HSI many times before, these can all have unpleasant side-effects. Codeine often causes constipation or drowsiness, and aspirin and NSAIDs (including Ibuprofen, Diclofenac or Naproxen) can cause diarrhoea, indigestion and even internal bleeding and tinnitus (ringing sound in your ears). And repeated courses of NSAIDs may actually increase the destruction of cartilage over time, and make arthritis worse.

In more severe cases, steroids may be injected into the affected joint this treatment may initially improve symptoms but, long-term, can cause thinning of your bones. As a last resort, an operation may be performed if your joint becomes very worn. The most common procedures are hip and knee replacements, but these can wear out after a few years.

Runo soothes swollen and painful joints without any side effects

Fortunately, Runo offers a safe and effective alternative to conventional drugs. Not only is it effective for those suffering from chronic rheumatism or arthritic pain, it can also provide relief from short-term aches and pains, including back ache.

All of the herbs present in Runo are well-known for their active anti-rheumatic and anti-inflammatory properties (Ref. 1-6). They include gum guaiacum, poke root, burdock root, sarsaparilla, black cohosh and prickly ash.

For example, gum guaiacum has a long history of use by traditional practitioners for treating chronic rheumatic conditions, including rheumatic arthritis and osteoarthritis. It helps take the heat out of rheumatic and arthritic flare ups and has been found to be particularly helpful against inflammatory rheumatism.

Poke Root has anti-rheumatic and anti-inflammatory properties, and also helps relieve pain, making it a valuable treatment for rheumatism and arthritis.

Burdock is valued mainly as a treatment for arthritis, gout, and other inflammatory conditions. It is thought to help gout and rheumatism by stimulating the liver and helping to eliminate harmful toxins from the body.

Sarsaparilla is renowned for being a blood tonic. It is an anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic herb used to ease rheumatism and rheumatoid arthritis.

Black Cohosh is best known for its ability to alleviate symptoms of the menopause but it is also effective against rheumatoid arthritis and muscular rheumatic conditions as a result of the pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic properties it possesses.

Prickly Ash was traditionally used by Native American Indians to treat rheumatic conditions including muscular rheumatism and arthritic problems. Scientists believe its effectiveness in this area may in part be due to the anti-inflammatory chemicals it contains such as piperonyl-4-acrylic isobutyl amide.

The product also contains the herb cayenne, which has been included to enhance the overall pain-killing and anti-inflammatory effects of the other ingredients.

Caroline Galloway BSc, MNIMH, a medical herbalist practising in London and the South East, has treated many patients with rheumatism and arthritis.  She says: Runo is formulated with ingredients that have been specifically chosen for the relief of many of the symptoms associated with rheumatic and spasmodic conditions. She describes Runo as a reliable herbal remedy which is safe and effective.

Runo: What to take for best results

The recommended dosage for Runo is one to two tablets taken three times a day. In some cases benefits can be experienced in as little as a week after taking the supplement, but it generally takes a month before the full benefits are achieved.

While Runo can be taken alongside conventional medicines, it is important that patients discuss the possibility of adding it to their treatment programme with their GP first. Runo has no known side effects or contraindications. However, pregnant women should not take it as one of its ingredients black cohosh is not safe for pregnant women.
