Using a microwave every once in a while may be convenient. But if you are trying to cook healthy foods, there's no place for radiation, especially if you take into account the potential cumulative effect of ingesting traces of those dangerous materials week after week, month after month, year after year... eventually it all adds up.

Ionized radiation, in high amounts with repeated exposure, can cause some serious biological damage, and although body scanners using backscatter X-rays use the waves in very small amounts, there is no known minimum to ensure that the rays will not damage body tissue. US research has suggested that up to 100 US airline passengers a year could get cancer from the scanners.

The makers of the film 'Tapped' expose the global bottled water industry as one of the biggest health cons of our time. When you factor in the harmful chemicals in plastic bottles, the environmental impact of plastic waste and the pollution caused by plastic manufacturing plants, bottled water becomes a losing proposition no matter how you look at it. When you factor in the harmful chemicals in plastic bottles, like BPA and dioxin, as well as the environmental impact of plastic waste and the pollution caused by plastic manufacturing plants, bottled water becomes a losing proposition no matter how you look at it.

Bisphenol A or BPA (a synthetic oestrogen) is a chemical used to harden plastics and it is one of the world’s most widely manufactured chemicals, with more than 2.2 million tons made each year. If you live in Europe or the US, it is highly probable that you have BPA in your system since 90 per cent of Europeans and Americans have detectable amounts.

The documentary: ‘Swine Flu – Everything you need to know’claimed to separate the facts from fiction for all of us on this topic. Yeah right!

Research published in the August 25 issue of the British Medical Journal also revealed that more than half of doctors and nurses in public hospitals would also refuse the H1N1 vaccine, due to concerns about side effects and doubts about its efficacy. I don’t blame them.

Frankly the information given in the documentary about the vaccine did not exactly put me at ease about it’s safety. Having a bit more inside-information at my disposal, I was actually amused by the platonic attempt of this film hoaxing people into believing that developing this ‘pandemic vaccine’ was simple and easy and therefore it is effective and safe...

Normally it takes about 26 weeks (6 months) to develop a vaccine, but Baxter International (a pharmaceutical giant and major player in the race for a H1N1 vaccine) announced on June 12 it has a patented cell-based technology which reduces the development time to 13 weeks and was ready to complete their development this month...

So, there will be a vaccine that’s been developed in less than half the time for use in the general population by September this year... When did they test it then?

Since the outbreak of Swine Flu, I’ve been holding my breath in anticipation to actually meet someone that contracted the H1N1 virus. Three weeks ago the reported Swine Flu cases reached a peak, with the media suggesting 110 000 people contracting the virus in one week, in the UK alone. Now that is a lot of people… Was there a possible miscount?

This week has seen the death toll of Swine Flu Deaths in the UK totalling at 17, since its outbreak, with the recent deaths of Chloe Buckley and Dr Michael Day.

Perhaps I should commit to some accuracy, since few media sources are prepared to do so: That is, 16 Swine Flu-related deaths (meaning all 16 victims had serious underlying health problems) and one patient in Essex who died earlier this month being the only person in the UK without underlying health problems to die of Swine Flu.

According to the latest news reports it is believed that this new strain of the antibiotic-resistant bacterium, known as CA- MRSA (community acquired MRSA) is becoming more widespread. Unlike MRSA and most other superbugs, CA-MRSA poses a significant risk outside hospitals. What’s worse is that experts reckon that the emergence of swine flu could intensify the problem.

Vitamin D is one of the vitamins that has been labelled a ‘Wonder Vitamin’ and it most certainly is one of the few that can actually live up to the expectation. This fat-soluble vitamin is produced by our bodies when the skin is exposed to UV radiation from sunlight. In theory a few minutes exposure to sun each day should generate sufficient vitamin D. But what would you say if you were told that the ‘wrong’ kind of sun light can actually lower your vitamin D levels?
