Mainstream Was Wrong All Along About ‘Bad’ Cholesterol

Previously we’ve told you about fibrates — a type of drug which is supposed to be effective in reducing blood levels of fats known as ‘triglycerides’ and might also raise levels of ‘healthy’ HDL cholesterol.
A recent study has found that women taking fibrates (in this case Tripilix) together with a statin (simvastatin), were more likely to have a fatal or non-fatal heart attack!
Talk about a toxic cocktail!
When it comes to the mainstream’s approach for preventing heart disease, it can often feel like we’re at the mercy of a ‘hit and miss’ scenario... Especially since many drug treatments just don’t seem to work, or have hideous side effects (like statin drugs), or only treat one aspect of the disease.
‘Bad’ cholesterol is good after all
A case in point relates to the findings of a recent study, which found that even so-called ‘bad’ (LDL) cholesterol is actually necessary for the body to function optimally… and that it actually plays a vital role in keeping us alive!
US Researchers, from Texas A&M University, studied 52 people aged between 60 and 69, and discovered that LDL cholesterol plays an important role in restoring muscle mass. Which explains why the use of cholesterol-lowering statins — which drive down LDL levels — often cause muscle waste… they clearly prevent the body from using its cholesterol reserves for what they were intended for!
The researchers also discovered that LDL acts as an early warning signal for the body, telling it that something is going wrong…
This is how leading researcher, Prof. Steve Riechman explained it: "LDL serves a very useful purpose. It acts as a warning sign that something is wrong and it signals the body to these warning signs. It does its job the way it is supposed to. Everyone needs a certain amount of both LDL and HDL in their bodies. We need to change this idea of LDL always being the evil thing — we all need it, and we need it to do its job.
HDL, the good cholesterol, cleans up after the repair is done. And the more LDL you have in your blood, the better you are able to build muscle during resistance training."
Findings like this leave me completely exasperated, because there are millions of people out there taking statin drugs, because they’ve been told they need to lower their LDL levels as much as possible… most of them are probably suffering from some form of muscle wastage or pain… and in some cases this damage can be irreparable!
Not just statins
But it’s not just statins that seem to do much more harm than good.
