Is Swine Flu Set to Return With a Vengeance?
Date: 16/12/10
Swine Flu is rearing its ugly head once again. Last year we were bombarded with sensational media headlines and conflicting reports, which caused a great deal of confusion and panic. Once again, the media seems unable to get its facts straight:
Yesterday, the BBC reported that a third man had died from the H1N1 Swine Flu virus, whilst a different media source mentions ten confirmed deaths from the virus... all were adults under 65 and most, but not all, had some underlying health condition.
With headlines appearing like 'alarm as swine flu returns with a vengeance' - it seems that the media circus is already gathering pace once more.
To add to the confusion, earlier this month it was reported that Swine Flu actually ended up saving lives rather than costing them...
Prof. John Oxford, Director of Retroscreen Virology, London, explained how this happened. He said that the H1N1 virus was the strongest virus last year in the Darwinian sense and pushed out ‘normal’ influenza viruses that would usually kill the elderly. As a result, the elderly were at far less risk of being killed by the normal epidemic flu viruses and they weren’t killed by swine flu since they had some built- up immunity...
Prof. Oxford added that the paradox lies in the fact that in the first year of the pandemic there were fewer deaths than normal.
Swine Flu: Darwinian or draconian?
If I understand Prof. Oxford right, then this year, the H1N1 virus is set to claim more lives than last year? So far this has fortunately not been the case... But since this message is delivered by an advocate for the H1N1 vaccine, I won’t run with it as the ‘truth’.
So far, the H1N1 virus has spread to other European countries too, who for the first time are seeing outbreaks this winter season, but luckily, the virus did not mutate into a more severe form — as was predicted last year.
Still, the effects of flu should not to be underestimated. It is not the same as getting a cold and can seriously affect your health.
Every year we're bombarded with messages from the Department of Health to get vaccinated as the only way to prtoect ourselves, and this year is no different. However, many are choosing to ignore this advice as there are still unanswered safety concerns about the H1N1 vaccine — which has been included in this year’s flu jab... Plus, the media made such a big issue over the swine flu pandemic (that never quite materialised!) last year, that it's a definite case of cry wolf.
So, whilst prevention remains key, it is understandable that the 'get vaccinated' message contiues to fall on deaf ears.
Swine Flu: Eliminate up to 99 per cent of infectious invaders
In fact, vaccination should not even have to be an option, because we all have a hidden type of immunity lying dormant in our cells that makes vaccination seem like a backward science!
It’s the same immunity that kept our ancestors in excellent health and had them living much longer than we do today…. when properly activated it’s on continuous alert for every virus, bacteria, fungus and allergen known to man.
Here at the Daily Health we’ve told you many times before about your body’s natural… inborn… INNATE immunity, which should be your body’s front line of defence against all attacks.
And since it's your body's innate immune system that fights 99 out of every 100 invaders, it makes sense that all your efforts should go into keeping it fully primed.
Guess what... The answer to boosting your first line of defence does not involve topping-up with seasonal flu vaccinations...
Instead, it turns out that substances found in yeast keep our natural immunity ready for battle. Unfortunately, nowadays these compounds called beta 1-3, 1-6 glucans are refined and processed to death, and chemically destroyed by intensive farming.
Beta 1-3, 1-6 glucans are substances you’ll find naturally in some bacteria, yeast and other funguses. These special glucose polysaccharides keep your innate immunity geared up for the fight. So, when a real threat comes to town it's ready to destroy the intruder!
Beta-glucans play such an important role in keeping you fighting-fit and healthy that oat beta glucans recently received approval from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) for their ability to improve cholesterol levels.

Swine Flu: Ubiquinol (CoQ10) protects against influenza
Probably one of the most remarkable breakthroughs that we've ever come across in natural medicine is the discovery of Co- enzyme Q10 (CoQ10), or better yet its most active form, Ubiquinol.
It’s well-documented that CoQ10 neutralises free radicals, prevents cholesterol from oxidation and helps protect your body's vital organs, including your brain, heart, lungs, liver and joints... This critical heart nutrient hailed as the ‘spark of life’ could literally rewrite your destiny!
Recent results from an animal study add to this life-giving nutrient’s ever-growing list of health benefits. The study, led by Prof. Tohimitsu from the Univeristy of Toyama, in Japan, revealed that Ubiquinol is able to activatean immune response and suppressthe growth of the H1N1 flu virus.
This is the first time that Ubiquinol’s effect on the H1N1 virus has been demonstrated and further studies will need to be conducted to confirm this result. However, with all the scientific backing CoQ10 already enjoys, I bet it's only a matter of time before similar flu-fighting benefits are proven in a human study.
