But what do you really get? Let’s take a look at the individual benefits of each of the components in Krill Oil:

1. Omega 3:

Omega 3 is such a hot topic at the moment and as a regular reader you should know that it is mentioned almost on a daily basis - needless to say it needs no introduction. The 7 primary health benefits of omega 3 are:

* Alleviate the pain and inflammation of arthritis: Omega 3 fish oil fatty acids, particularly EPA, have a very positive effect on your inflammatory response.

* Better brain function and mental agility: For adults, fish oil improves memory, recall, reasoning and focus.

* Feeling better with much less depression: UK researchers at the University of Sheffield, found that fish oil supplements "alleviated" the symptoms of depression, bipolar disorder and psychosis.

* Combats childhood disorders: Studies show that children (and adults) with ADD and ADHD experience a greatly improved quality of life. And those with dyslexia, dyspraxia and compulsive disorders received a new lease of life thanks to fish oil supplements.

* Cardiovascular health: Omega 3 have also been proven to work wonders for your heart. It helps lower cholesterol, tryglicerides, LDLs and blood pressure, while at the same time increasing good HDL cholesterol.

* Protects against heart attack and stroke: Research shows fish oil fatty acids break up clots before they can cause any damage.

* Reduces the risk of breast, colon and prostate cancer.

2. EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid)

Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) is a member of the omega-3 family of fatty acids and can be consumed directly by eating certain kinds of fish. It is also produced in the body from the conversion of alpha linolenic acid (ALA). EPA provides anti-inflammatory agents, enhance the immune system, thin the blood, and lower blood pressure. Below are 5 more benefits of EPA:

* Supports cardiovascular health: More specifically, EPA may reduce the occurrence of angina attacks as a result of its blood-thinning properties. EPA may also be able to help the heart maintain a steady rhythm by positively affecting its electrical activity.

* Increasing the elasticity of arteries: When elasticity of the arteries is low it may be an indication of cardiovascular disease. Studies have shown that EPA increases artery-elasticity by 36 per cent.

* Skin disorders: EPA may help in the treatment of skin disorders such as eczema, psoriasis, and lupus

* Mood stabiliser: Studies suggest that EPA exhibit mood-stabilizing properties and can assist in treatment of bipolar disorder, which is also known as a manic depressive illness.

3. DHA (docosahexaenoic acid)

30 per cent of the brain is DHA (docosahexaenoic acid)—an essential fatty acid. DHA is vital for brain development and maintenance. It can only be obtained through the diet or with supplementation. DHA is absorbed by the brain in preference to other fatty acids. No wonder DHA is essential for the growth and functional development of the brain in infants. Below are the main benefits of this essential fatty acid:

* Supports and protects the nervous system.

* Helps maintain blood lipid levels.

* Support brain and eye health.

* Help improve mental clarity and brain function.

* Mood enhancer.

4. Astaxanthin

Astaxanthin may be one of the most powerful antioxidants around theese days! This antioxidant and carotenoid is a natural red pigment found in plants, algae, and some food sources like salmon, crayfish and krill. Since algae and phytoplankton are the only food source for krill, you can imagine why the presence of this antioxidant is so strong in Krill Oil. Below are the main benefits of this super-potent antioxidant:

* Enhances immunity

* Protects against sunburn

* Inhibits cancer-tumour growth

* Help prevent cataracts

* Effective macular degeneration treatment

* Protects against the oxidative stress that results in Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and other neurological diseases

* Reduces your risk of atherosclerosis and heart disease

The benefits of Krill Oil are clear. I am sure some of you are looking at your shelf of supplements and thinking: ‘Best I finish all of that and then top-up with some Krill Oil only’. You’ll certainly be saving on shelf-space, cost and add great benefits to your health with one supplement. Sounds like the best buy-one-get-four for free offer I ever heard of.

Omega 3 is the real deal and is very healthy for you. Some of the best minds in the natural health arena are saying krill oil is the best way for you to increase your omega 3 levels. The main health issue is that we get way too much omega 6 and not enough omega 3. you should try to make sure the product you are using is of high quality and processed by a reputable trustworthy company.
